Don't worry. (I was going to write it's supposed to be confusing) but it's not completely. It is however supposed to leave quite a few questions open.
It's way back around the start of the second chapter when Zanilex is talking to his ghost he's melded with that Kaytan is mentioned here
It mentions how ghosts are escaping Nadir and that there is no Sthranos at the moment, so Kaytan is having a heck of a time trying to round up all the escapees. :D
