Some people consider him a walking library. :) The bookcase he has summoned is from the undying library which the Foxcieans have access to. It is the largest repository of knowledge on the planet. It 'resides' in the central spire of Eternal Sky but seems to have a mind of its own. It only shows information to an individual that it considers ready/worthy (no ones really sure) So people can spend a lifetime looking for certain information and never find it. Zanilex is a great example. He can walk up and down the stacks of the library and the only books he'll ever see are the ones on Foxciean law, much to his disgust. Fex is an interesting case as the library rarely hides information from him, and while others can summon books from the library, summoning a whole bookcase is just unheard of.

It does make it easier for him to browse for books in the comfort of his own home. ^.^
While Fex would get upset if anyone tried to set the library on fire, you're right it would move itself out of the way, or replace itself. :D
